Founded in 1972, Japan Society’s Language Center is the premiere venue for learning Japanese in New York City.
Japan Society’s Language Center offers 13 comprehensive levels of Japanese as well as JLPT prep, kanji and specialized courses. Additional courses include shodo (Japanese calligraphy), English conversation (ESL), a Japanese-language teacher training program, and workshops for travelers, business etiquette, and Japanese writing systems. Beyond the 220 classes offered each year, monthly conversation exchange events offer a unique space for practicing Japanese and English and learning about culture.
Japan Society programs are made possible by leadership support from Booth Ferris Foundation and Shiseido Americas. Support for Japan Society’s Language Center is provided, in part, by Mark F. Goldfield and Mary E. Hatch; Christopher Hong; Steven Giordano; and Dr. Bic Kanayjorn.
