The Noh Drama Theater of Japan
The 4th Annual Evening Stars Music and Dance Festival of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council presents The Noh Drama Theater of Japan
Presented by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council as part of its Fourth Annual Evening Stars program, the Noh Drama Theater of Japan will perform Tsuito Rosuko (means “Memorial Candle” in Japanese). As a gesture of sympathy for the lives lost on September 11th–including many Japanese citizens–these performances are a special gift toward the restoration and renewal of New York City.
Performances will include: Urinusubito (The Melon Thief) and Tsuchigumo (The Ground Spider) on August 31 and Futari Daimyo (Two Lords) and Lady Aoi (Aoi no Ue) on September 1. Leading the performances will be Rokuro Umewaka, whose family has produced a continual line of Noh performers for 1000 years.
The Michael Schimmel Theater for the Arts is located at 1 Pace Plaza, on Spruce Street between Park Row and Gold Street. If traveling by Subway, take N, R to City Hall or 4, 5, 6 to Brooklyn Bridge.
To reserve a free ticket, call the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council at 212-219-9401extension 100 or 110.
