Recently, Japan Society was transformed from its rather elegant and serene building interior, to that of a futuristic, cosmic themed party/nightclub (complete with aliens and ufos). The occasion? Oorutaichi was in town!

Performing songs off his latest album "Cosmic Coco" (2011) and previous album "Drifting My Folklore" (2007), Oorutaichi’s mix of experimental pop music, self described as "imaginary electronic folklore," had the crowd on their feet and dancing all night long.

Nihon NY had the chance to catch him before his set and ask him a variety of questions, from how he would categorize his own music, to how working on the upcoming Masaaki Yuasa animated film went and even what he’d be doing if he wasn’t making music.

Be on the lookout for more concerts in Japan and around the world from Oorutaichi. Also be sure to check out his music in the meantime!
