Nihon NY – Episode 17: The Suzan
The Suzan are a Japanese all-girl band made up of sisters Saori (vocals) and Rie (keyboard) along with Ikue (bass) and Nico (drums). What began with an 8-track demo recording in 2003 has now led the girls to their new home in New York, where they can be seen playing to sold out crowds in venues throughout the city. Nihon NY had the opportunity to spend a day with the girls and talk to them about their past, present and future. From learning about the bands name origin (a play on the sisters family name "Suzuki" – "Su-san" – "Su-zan"), the success of their current album "Golden Week for the Poco Poco Beat", to what countries they’d like to play in in the future. We also learn they enjoy potato chips, ice cream and 99¢ and that their first albums purchased include Whitney Houston and Jane Birkin. Please enjoy the energetic music and check out their current album "Golden Week for the Poco Poco Beat" or see them live in concert! Don’t miss it!
