“Mizuto-Abura means oil and water in Japanese. But this troupe moved with such energy and precision that its presentation had the fizz of sparkling wine.”
–The New York Times

Soup & An Armchair Theory (U.S. premiere)

After their sold-out U.S. debut performance in 2002, MIZUTO ABURA returns to Japan Society for another startling, sparkling performance, which includes the U.S. premiere of An Armchair Theory.

Founded in 1995, MIZUTO ABURA (literally meaning “water and oil”) has developed a highly original technique of dance/theater that skillfully blends gesture, mime, visual effects and wordless songs. MIZUTO ABURA has received rave reviews world-wide and have won numerous awards throughout Asia and Europe. Their “high-octane series of vignettes wrenches everyday events out of the familiar.” (Edinburgh Review) to create an evening “full of invention, humor and fresh surprise.” (The Herald)

Tickets: $25, Japan Society members $20.
