Making Room brings together five innovative architectural teams to propose a range of brand new housing prototypes that better reflect the demographics and desires of how we really live in the 21st century city. The new housing types that will be proposed at the event are inspired by design innovation seen in other cities around the world, especially the mini-studio permitted in Tokyo. Author, academic and founder of the Future Design Institute in Tokyo, Azby Brown, will be part of a specialist panel to interview the architects, discuss the designs, and how New York City could gain from allowing more creativity in housing design to flourish.

The event is held in collaboration with Citizens Housing & Planning Council (CHPC) and the Architectural League of New York.
