This panel discussion explores the development of Japanese popular culture from the American-influenced postwar years to the current era of globalization–from Godzilla to the recent “Cool Japan” craze–in art, fashion, music, anime and manga. Featuring Eric Shiner, an independent curator who specializes in Japanese contemporary art; Anne Allison, Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Duke University; and music critic Archie Meguro of Sony Music Entertainment.
