Both in the United States and Japan, herbs and herbal medicine are experiencing a boom as people are increasingly taking charge of their own wellbeing. This program featuring Susun Weed, renowned herbalist with nearly 40 years of experience in folkloric and eco-herbalism with a special interest in women’s health issues, and Nigel Dawes, Professor in Japanese Clinical Medicine, Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, New York, explores the history of herbal medicine in Japan, looks at specific health conditions and corresponding herbal therapies, and introduces the wide availability of Japanese herbs in the United States.
