Japan and the World after the Quake

From March 14–June 30, 2011:

Experts look at the immediate and long term impacts on Japan’s economy, society, and international relations after the March 11 earthquake, the strongest earthquake ever to hit Japan. The recent earthquake and resulting tsunamis have left thousands of people dead or missing, destroyed businesses and homes, and created the world’s worst nuclear crisis since the Chernobyl disaster in the Soviet Union 25 years ago. What will be the impact of the earthquake on Japan’s fragile government and economic recovery? What will it mean for the future of Japan and its international relations? And how can the world help?

This panel was originally scheduled to examine Japan’s relationship with the world and possible isolation. That specific topic will be addressed at a panel organized at a later date.

Additional corporate registrants and Japan Society individual members at the Patron Circle level and above pay the discounted corporate member rate of $10 for lecture only. Nonmember admission is $15 lecture only. The academic and government admission rate is $10 for lecture only. When payment is required, prepayment must be made, or registration secured, with a credit card. All registrations and cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the event.
