Cocktail & Tour of Susumu Shingu: Elated!

Thursday, June 26 | 6:00–7:00 PM
Celebrate the art and energy of summer at an exclusive Cocktail & Tour at Japan Society! Enjoy Dassai sake, tea, and light refreshments, then join Naomi Kuromiya, Senior Research Associate at the Japan Society Gallery, for a special private tour of our new exhibition, Susumu Shingu: Elated!
This exhibition marks acclaimed Japanese artist Susumu Shingu’s first solo museum show in New York City. Shingu’s innovative use of biomimicry breathes life into forms inspired by nature—evoking insects, birds, sea creatures, and more—while inviting reflection on the environment and the beauty of summer breezes.
Discover Shingu’s dynamic sculptures, which make visible the invisible forces of wind, heat, and gravity, and reflect the beauty and movement of nature. This vibrant exhibition highlights the artist’s career-spanning exploration of biomimicry, as well as his large-scale works installed in public spaces around the globe and here in New York City.
RSVP required. This event is exclusively for Sustaining and above Japan Society Members.
