Cybernics Revolution: Cyberdyne’s Vision and Strategy

In order to solve social problems and realize medical innovation in Japan’s super aging society, Cyberdyne is simultaneously promoting "Research & Development of Innovative Technology," "Creation of New Industry" and "Human Resource Development." For example, the world’s first Cybernics treatment device "Medical HAL®" was approved as a medical device for neurological disorders in Japan and the United States, after the approval of medical devices in Europe. Cyberdyne is making their best effort to realize the "Cybernics Revolution" including "Society 5.0 / 5.1" and "ZERO Burdening-Care Society." One of their novel products, the world’s first wearable cyborg, HAL®, can be controlled by intention-based bioelectrical signals generated by neural activity to improve, regenerate, support and expand the wearer’s brain-neuro-physical functions. HAL is equipped with the cybernic treatment control system, which includes Cybernic voluntary control, Cybernic autonomous control, a function that adjusts to the user’s individual characteristic called the Cybernic impedance control, and the Cybernic hybrid control system that combines all three functions. Cyberdyne’s systems/devices/interfaces such as vital sensors, cleaning AI-robots CL02, Cyin etc. are centered on a new concept of Cybernics including IoH/IoT technology, which connects the human brain and physiology to the supercomputer. Such an integrated cybernic system enables the accumulation, analysis and AI processing of big data of people and things. In this talk, Cyberdyne President & CEO Yoshiyuki Sankai speaks about the leading-edge "Cybernics" technologies, some innovative achievements and his future vision.
