Teacher Professional Development
Teacher training programs provide K-12 teachers with the knowledge and resources to effectively teach about Japan in the classroom. These innovative programs on Japanese history, culture and current issues link K-12 educators with leading scholars and Japanese luminaries to increase mutual understanding and build future U.S.-Japan relations. Participating teachers are also eligible to receive state PD credit.
Japan Society’s Professional Development Programs and New Video Resources for Educators are made possible by a generous grant from an anonymous funder.
Japan Society programs are supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Family Programs are generously supported by ORIX Corporation USA; Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas); public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council; The Masako Mera and Koichi Mera, PhD Fund for Education and the Arts; The Norinchukin Foundation; and Family and Education Circle members.
