Take a moment to contemplate the beauty and spirit of Japan through a bowl of tea. At this special public tea ceremony, we pull back the curtain on the traditions of the Omotesenke school of tea, which was founded over 450 years ago by tea master Sen Rikyu. Learn about the etiquette, history and modern practice of the tea ceremony, and enjoy an on-stage demonstration by tea masters from Omotesenke headquarters in Kyoto. The program will also include a special musical performance by award-winning violinist Keila Wakao.

Note: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Keila Wakao will no longer be able to perform at this event.

Participants will enjoy a seasonal wagashi and matcha in the Japan Society auditorium.
