Foundations & Government

As a nonprofit, we rely on institutional support from foundations and government partners to deliver on our mission.

Japan Society partners with private foundations and government agencies in support of programming connecting Japanese culture and thought leadership with the broadest possible audience in New York City. Our diplomatic and educational mission to deepen mutual understanding between the United States and Japan is achieved through excellence in the presentation of the fine arts, film and design, language studies, K-12 education experiences, business and policy, humanitarian relief, cuisine and popular trends and we seek to collaborate with institutional funders who share our values in strengthening global communities, serving a diverse visitorship.

Grants in support of public programs, capital projects, general operations and the endowment enable us to offer experiences that broaden perspectives, foster dialogue and nurture new skills.
