Help us Bring Japan to our Local Communities and Beyond
Your investment in Japan Society strengthens our mission by providing language classes, gallery exhibitions, performances, films, family programs, and lectures to the world.
Global reach, however, starts with local impact.
For example, your support builds bridges through our in-school partnership program. Our education outreach impacts the lives of thousands of New York City school youth’s lives with enriching programming in the realm of US-Japan relations. They, in turn, develop a deeper appreciation for Japanese cultural and recognize the significance of US-Japan relations. Your generosity fosters lifelong advocates and champions of Japanese culture. Thank you for your support.

Hiroshi Sugimoto Photography Auction for Yoko Shioya 20/20 Campaign
Consider placing a bid in this one-of-a-kind opportunity to own Hiroshi Sugimoto’s signature black and white photography work, while joining in celebrating Japan Society Artistic Director Yoko Shioya’s 20th anniversary. This auction is part of Japan Society’s ongoing fundraising campaign, Yoko Shioya 20/20: Celebrating 20 Years of Artistic Vision, supporting the future of the Performing Arts Program. In celebrating Yoko’s milestone, her long-time friend and collaborator, Hiroshi Sugimoto, one of the most established contemporary Japanese artists of his time, has donated his work to be auctioned off for this important cause. The proceeds of the auction will go directly to the Yoko Shioya 20/20 campaign.
A Planned Gift Can Make a Lasting Impact
Over the years, many friends have identified themselves as friends who have remembered, or want to remember, Japan Society in their estate plans. In 2023, Japan Society formally launched the John D. Rockefeller 3rd Society – a passionate and committed group of friends and philanthropists who have remembered Japan Society with a planned gift. Your commitment not only strengthens the Society, but has the potential to reduce your taxes and preserve assets.
Rockefeller Society Members join a remarkable community of individuals who will be recognized on the Society’s donor plaque within our landmarked building. As a Member, you and your guests will be invited to attend gallery openings, talks and a dedicated Rockefeller Society annual event to celebrate and connect with others. Contact Greg Corsico at [email protected] for a confidential discussion.
