Japan Society’s Kids & Family programs bring together diverse communities to experience Japanese culture through storytelling, art making workshops and festivals. Annual Festivities invite young children and their families to learn about traditional Japanese celebrations at Japan Society including the New Year’s Celebration, Children’s Day and the 7-5-3 Ceremony, offering fun performances, workshops and hands-on craft activities. In collaboration with Gallery and Performing Arts departments, age-appropriate Family Gallery Programs and Family Performing Arts Workshops are also provided throughout the year. Multi-lingual free online resource, Kamishibai Mini Library, for young audiences, is also available in Japanese-English bilingual format and in Spanish and Portuguese.

Our mini kamishibai library offers some of Japan’s most popular stories featuring Japanese-English bilingual narration.

おうちごはん！Ouchigohan! – Japanese Home Cooking
おうちごはん！Ouchigohan! – Japanese Home Cooking is an online cooking class series for families with step-by-step demonstrations of how to make the most popular Japanese dishes. Japan Society took part in collaboration with other Japan/Japan-America Societies.
Japan Society Family Membership means parents and kids enjoy 20% or more off on annual family festivities such as Oshogatsu and Children’s Day.
