One of the most mysterious films by enigmatic director Seijun Suzuki, Zigeunerwisen is ultimately about the world of evil supernatural power. “This is about what it is like to see the impossible world,” notes the film’s renowned Artistic Director Takeo Kimura. Set in the 1930s, the film portrays the intricate relationship of two men and two women floating between time and space, reality and hallucination. Suzuki in his magical form leads his viewers to a decadent and irresistible world.
