Join Japanese-language students and native Japanese speakers at this informal virtual language exchange to practice your Japanese. After a short presentation by our J-Culture guest, we will move into breakout rooms grouped by level to chat. Levels include introductory, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 日本に興味のある人たちや日本語を勉強中の人たちと気軽に会話を楽しみましょう。茶道のパフォーマンスを見学した後で、日本語、英語のレベル別にグループに分かれて語学交換を行います。日本人の方、英語を勉強中の方、ふるってご参加ください!
This month’s guest is Yoshitsugu Nagano, a Japanese Tea Master with a certificate of “Professor of Japanese Tea Ceremony” in Buke Sado Ueda Soka Ryu, a style of tea ceremony. He mastered Buke Sado Ueda Soka Ryu which has over 400 years history in Hiroshima and has also made his own originally modern tea ceremony style. He has been based in New York since 2019. His highlights of Tea Ceremonies include a commemorative project for the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (2015) and White Scape – Winter Tea Ceremony in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima (2017).

武家茶道上田宗箇流正教授 。広島で400年続く武家茶道を習得する一方で、茶の湯に現代的な感性や表現を取り入れたスタイルを確立。2019年からはニューヨークを拠点に活動している。主な茶会に広島被爆70周年記念事業 平和記念公園茶会(2015年)、White Scape 茶会(2017年)など。
