Since President Trump took office earlier this year, his administration has introduced a range of economic policies aimed at stimulating economic growth through tax cuts, deregulation, and a renewed focus on American manufacturing. A key focus of the administration’s economic agenda is trade and tariffs. After a series of announcements, delays, and temporary suspensions, tariff measures took effect in August for most trading partners. With ongoing U.S.-China trade negotiations and pending legal challenges, the landscape remains uncertain. How are these economic policies impacting the U.S. economy and markets? What are the broader implications for global trade and economic relations, particularly with Japan? In this program, leading experts examine recent developments, explore how the administration’s economic priorities are affecting countries and businesses, and offer insights into how these policies may shape the future global landscape.
