School groups are invited to meet descendants of Japan’s leading historic figures, Sakamoto Ryoma, Katsu Kaishu and John Manjiro, visionaries who contributed to the opening of Japan to the West in the 19th century. Joined by three Japanese high school students from Kochi, Shikoku Island, home of these three samurai, participating students will take a deeper look at a turning point in Japan’s history and how the qualities of leadership at that time are relevant to the world today.
