The Internet is fully integrated into the global marketplace, and upcoming technology will make news even more instantaneous, more mobile and more available. News aggregators, industry-specific sites, even “blogger” sites, are all blasting news directly to the public, in real-time. What does this phenomenon mean for the news business as we know it? Particularly in Japan, where the traditional cozy relationship between the media and business is changing? Is this a threat or an opportunity? With the line between PR and news blurring, will “the buzz” obscure the “real news?” A panel of journalists and cutting-edge public relations professionals explore these and other issues as they discuss the impact of new technology on journalism.
