Acclaimed multimedia artist Joan Jonas hosts an intimate book club to discuss The Classic Noh Theatre of Japan (1917), Ezra Pound’s and Ernest Fenollosa’s English translation of select noh plays, which W. B. Yeats consulted when writing At the Hawk’s Well over a century ago. Jonas describes the profound impact that this publication has had on her practice since the 1970s and its continued resonance in her work today.
