SOLD OUT – New Challenges to Japanese Corporate Governance: American Scandals
Corporate Luncheon & CLE Program: Ethics & Professionalism
Read the Event Summary.
What can Japanese corporations striving to improve corporate governance learn from the recent spate of scandals at American companies? In Japan, recent changes in the commercial code are expected to hasten reform in the composition of boards, executive hiring and remuneration, and auditing and accounting practices. Still, most Japanese firms have a long way to go in overhauling corporate leadership to American standards. Will the Japanese learn from American mistakes and excesses as they reform? A distinguished panel of attorneys and corporate executives examines recent progress in Japanese corporate governance, discusses the impact of corruption scandals in the United States, and identifies opportunities and directions for future development.
