Nuclear Energy, Power & Other Applications: Future Prospects
Nuclear power remains set for continued growth despite the international focus on nuclear safety following the Fukushima Daiichi accident. Nuclear applications are also expanding in areas fundamental to human well-being–health, water management and food production. Yukiya Amano, Director General, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), discusses the IAEA’s efforts to make nuclear power safer globally through the Action Plan on Nuclear Safety. He also covers the IAEA’s approach to nuclear verification, safeguarding issues in Iran and North Korea, and the Technical Cooperation Programme, which assists developing countries.
