Join Japanese-language students and native Japanese speakers at this informal gathering to practice Japanese and English! Anyone with some Japanese language experience is welcome to attend. 日本に興味のある人たちや日本語を勉強中の人たちと楽しく会話をしましょう。 日本人の方、英語を勉強中の方、ふるってご参加ください!

For 30 minutes during the September 4th meeting, koto master Masayo Ishigure will be demonstrating the art of playing the koto, a traditional string instrument that is also Japan’s national instrument. Ishigure Sensei began playing the koto and jiuta shamisen at the age of five in Gifu, Japan. She has performed in NYC at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall-Weill Recital Hall, BAM, and the Metropolitan Museum, among other venues.

Admission (cash only):
With RSVP: Free for current Language Center students and university students with a valid student ID, or $5 for non-students
