While Japan Society was at the 2011 NY Comic Con, we had the opportunity to spend time with anime screenwriter Dai Sato. Known for his work on such famous shows as Eureka seveN, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy and Cowboy Bebop (his initiation into anime screen writing), Dai discusses the festival-like atmosphere at Comic Con, his views on the anime industry and the direction it is headed, how he deals with writer’s block, his influences as well as his advice for anyone inspired to work in the anime industry. He also talks about his musical background and how it relates to his writing.

Dai is a familiar face to Japan Society having taught a summer high school workshop in Japanese animation production in 2009, while recently participating in Films for Hope held on September 11, 2011.

So if you haven’t already checked out his work, please do so!
