The massive international success of the social media platform LINE is bringing about a paradigm shift in a sector long dominated by companies such as Facebook and Twitter. First launched in 2011, LINE has quickly grown from a simple instant messenger application for Japanese users to a worldwide media platform with over 240 million users in 230 countries. Akira Morikawa, CEO of LINE Corporation, discusses both his thoughts on LINE’s global strategies for expansion and his ideas on how to provide better end-user satisfaction through new services.
