You Took a Part of Me is a contemporary dance with choreography by “punk ballerina” Karole Armitage for her company Armitage Gone! Dance. Loosely based on the 15th-century noh play Nonomiya, it explores erotic entanglement, unresolved attachments and the search for harmony, all of which are hallmarks of noh drama. The lead role, by Armitage’s longtime collaborator Megumi Eda, highlights sinuous, seductive movements executed with ferocious intensity in a dream-like state. For this production, a hashigakari, or bridge, will extend out into our auditorium seating, resembling a noh stage. Multitalented musician Yuki Isami will perform music composed by Reiko Yamada throughout the piece.

This event is part of Carnegie Hall’s Migrations: The Making of America festival.

Tickets: $30/$25 members

Tickets can be purchased online, or by visiting/calling the Box Office at (212) 715-1258.
