Hawaii’s former First Lady Jean Ariyoshi speaks about her new book, Washington Place, A First Lady’s Story, an autobiographical account of her childhood in a small town in Hawaii through her years at Washington Place, the state’s gubernatorial mansion, where she lived with her husband, George Ariyoshi, the governor of Hawaii from 1973 to 1986. 

Hosted by the Japanese American National Museum. Co-sponsored by the Japan Society, Asian/Pacific/American Studies Program and Institute at New York University, the University of Hawaii Alumni Association East, the Japanese American Association, and the Hawai’i Cultural Foundation. Followed by a reception and booksigning.
