Japan’s New Year’s Day Celebration: Oshogatsu 2011

Celebrate Japan’s New Year’s holiday with lion dancing (shishi-mai) accompanied by live taiko drumming (Gagaku court music in Session II only). There will be many traditional New Year’s activities for children, including special New Year’s calligraphy (kakizome), kite-making/flying (takoage), funny face game (fukuwarai) and traditional rice pounding (mochi-tsuki).

Recommended for all ages.
