Have you always wanted to learn Japanese, but were unsure where to start? Come for a Japanese Trial Lesson for Beginners, taught by the Toyota Language Center’s Director, Tomoyo Kamimura. This lesson is structured for complete beginners of Japanese. If you are not a complete beginner, please take a look at the Japanese Level Guide for information about our courses, or email [email protected] with your questions.

Due to this being a language learning event, we highly recommend having your video on if possible. We do ask that every participant is able to participate via their microphone. If you do not have this capability, please contact us at [email protected].

Ms. Tomoyo Kamimura holds a BA from Waseda University, an MA in Linguistics from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Columbia University. She has been teaching Japanese at universities both in the US and Japan for over 15 years. Ms. Kamimura has numerous publications and has served as co-editor of Ohbunsha’s Japanese – English Dictionary. Previously, she was coordinator of The New School’s Japanese program.

Space is limited; RSVP required to [email protected] (preferred) or 212-715-1269.
In your RSVP, please provide a first and last name, your email address, phone number (optional), and the name connected to the Zoom account you will use for the event. We will only be letting in the names we recognize from the RSVP list.

Participants must be age 16 or older.

Further instructions will be provided on the morning of the event by email from [email protected].

Support for Japan Society’s Toyota Language Center is provided, in part, by the NYC COVID-19 Response and Impact Fund in The New York Community Trust; Mark F. Goldfield and Mary E. Hatch; Christopher Hong; Steven Giordano; The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles; and Dr. Bic Kanayjorn.
