HERE & THERE – Lectures on Bamboo

The John P. Humes Japanese Stroll Garden, located in Locust Valley, New York, and the Old Wesbury Gardens, Old Westbury, New York are co-sponsoring a lecture in conjunction with the exhibition Bamboo: A Summation of Use, which is on view at the Humes Japanese Stroll Garden.  The lectures will be held in the Red Ballroom located in the Westbury House at Old Westbury Gardens.  The lectures will be followed by a book signing and tea on the West Porch on Saturday, September 28 from 10:00 am until noon.

Stephen A. Morrell, Curator of the Humes Japanese Stroll Garden, will discuss the horticultural uses of bamboo in his slide illistrated lecture Bamboo for Northern Gardens.  Nancy Moore Bess, author of Bamboo in Japan, will lecture on Bamboo in Japanese Culture.
