Haiku is an essential aspect of Japanese culture and language and has gained popularity worldwide. In this workshop, Japanese haiku poet Sho Otaka teaches participants how to write haiku using three lines of 17 or fewer syllables, as well as explaining how kigo, words or phrases symbolizing the season of the poem, have a role in haiku and Japanese language.
このワークショップでは、週刊NY生活の連載でもおなじみの俳人・大高翔さんが俳句の詠み方のみならず、季語が俳句および日本語でどのような役割を持っているのかについて講義いたします。

Tuition: $40/$35 per workshop
受講料： 非会員 $40；ジャパン・ソサエティー 個人/法人会員 $35

Native Japanese/Advanced Japanese Learners
日本人／日本語上級者向け
Prerequisite: participants must be at level 12 or 13 at Japan Society’s Language Center or equivalent. Japanese natives also welcome, no English proficiency required. To have your level assessed, please call the Language Center at 212-715-1269.
参加要件：日本人の方、ジャパン・ソサエティー語学センターの日本語教室でレベル12または13の生徒、および同等の日本語能力をお持ちの方。日本語レベルの不明な方はお電話（212-715-1269）にてアセスメントが受けられます。日本人の皆様も奮ってご参加ください！

Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason after 12 pm noon, the business day before your class starts. All refunds are subject to a $5 service charge, including those requested by the deadline date. No partial registration or auditing is permitted. Please note that cancellations are accepted by phone or in person only. Cancellations via e-mail are not accepted.
