Join us for a student performance that is the culmination of our five-day high school student workshop, From Taiko Drumming to J-Pop Music & Dance. The performance includes Taiko drumming, J-Pop dances, and singing by our workshop participants and will be followed by a reception.

Throughout the workshop, participants learned about Japanese traditional and pop music and developed basic Taiko drumming, vocal and choreographic skills under the guidance of professional Taiko drummers, singers and dancers. Designed for music-loving teens, the workshop explored Japanese music genres such as enka (a type of ballad), kayokyoku (a Japanese pop music genre) and J-Pop, in addition to examining Japan’s unique music industry and recent smash hits that are becoming increasingly popular overseas.

Open to the public, free admission (doors open at 1:30 PM).
