Exploring Japan’s Mystical Folktale Creatures & Ghosts through Kamishibai Storytelling

Sunday, October 29 (the weekend before Halloween)
2 – 4 pm

Ghosts and mystical creatures of Japan such as oni, kappa and tengu, are introduced through kamishibai storytelling and performance. Participants will hear Japanese folktales featuring ghosts and other-worldly creatures, accompanied by song and dance. In the second part of the workshop, participants will create masks of the folktale characters featured in the kamishibai stories.


This program is recommended for children ages 4-8 and their accompanying adults.
