Early Japanese History: From Ethnogenesis through Medieval Times

30-hour professional development course for grade 6-12 educators in cooperation with the NYC Department of Education

Drawing on the expertise of leading professors of early Japanese history and culture, this course will provide an overview of Japanese culture from the first immigration to Japan through the early medieval era. Using a cross disciplinary approach, the course will address such topics as the development of literature, art, and high culture, the development of political systems, and the political and cultural influence of the Asian mainland on Japan. Emphasis will be on understanding the content and creating practical teaching ideas to integrate the material into the 6-12 ELA, Social Studies, and Art Classroom.

Lunch will be provided, and tuition includes all materials.
