Leading Japanese broadband access provider eAccess has a vision for high-speed internet access in Japan, and has been on the cutting edge of Japan’s telecommunications deregulation since the company’s entrepreneurial origins in 1999. Thriving in a newly competitive marketplace, eAccess recently purchased AOL Japan, and will develop the AOL brand in Japan. CEO Sachio Semmoto describes how his firm came to dominate the Japanese broadband marketplace, and what he sees ahead for the internet and telecommunications industry in Japan.
