CENTENNIAL EVENT Kazuo Ohno 101: Three-Week Butoh Parade

In celebration of the 101st birthday of Kazuo Ohno, one of the legends of the butoh movement, Japan Society dives into Japan’s major contribution to the arts in the 20th century: butoh. Japanese star butoh pioneers and emerging U.S.-based artists are brought together under this three-week extravaganza. Kazuo Ohno 101 is a benchmark event that tracks the trajectory of the revolutionary butoh movement into the 21st century. Programs include:
Kochuten + Akaji Maro (Oct. 9, 10, 12, 13)
Eiko & Koma with Margaret Leng Tan (October 18-20)
Akira Kasai Butoh America (October 25-27)
U.S. Butoh Marathon + Yoshito Ohno (October 27)
