Butoh Workshop: Body as the Receptacle of Time With Yumiko Yoshioka

Yumiko Yoshioka, also known as Mizelle Hanaoka, was a member of Ariadone, the first women’s butoh company founded by Ko Murobushi and Carlotta Ikeda in 1978. A resident of Germany since 1988, Yoshioka is the founder of ten pen Chii art labor, an art group that incorporates dance, space and visual art. This workshop focuses on butoh and other organic movement techniques to awaken and explore memories that reside within the body. Co-presented with The Cave.

Max 20 people. Some dance or performance experience preferred.


Tickets: $30/$25 Japan Society members. *Observer tickets may be available to some of these workshops after regular tickets are sold out.
