An Evening with Amon Miyamoto

Director Amon Miyamoto’s works have appeared throughout the world. These include: Pacific Overtures, which was first presented at the Lincoln Center Festival (2002), went on to Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and to Broadway at Studio 54 (2004) and received four Tony Awards nominations, Up in the Air at Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2008), Tan Dun’s contemporary opera Tea: A Mirror of Soul at the Santa Fe Opera (2007) and the Opera Company of Philadelphia (2010), and The Fantasticks (2010) in the West End, London. His most recent production, The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, a play based on Yukio Mishima’s novel, will be presented at the Lincoln Center Festival 2011 (7/21-24). In this program, Miyamoto and Nigel Redden, Director, Lincoln Center Festival, discuss Mishima’s powerful legacy and inspiration behind the creativity.
