From acclaimed director Yoji Yamada, comes his first contemporary drama since A Class to Remember 4: Fifteen (2000). In the duration Yamada has elevated his critical reputation from commercially successful creator of the hit series Tora-san (the longest running film series of all time, 48 altogether from 1969 to 1996) to internationally recognized auteur, making well-received period dramas to tell his trademark working class melodramas, receiving an Oscar nomination for the period drama Twilight Samurai (2002), among many other awards. About Her Brother stars Sayuri Yoshinaga (Year One in the North) and Tsurube Shofukutei (Dear Doctor, also appearing at JAPAN CUTS 2010), of Yamada’s Kabei: Our Mother, here starring as a Ginko and Tetsuro, sister and brother reunited. But when Tetsuro, an actor with a stalled career and a penchant for drinking, jeopardizes the marriage of Ginko’s daughter (Aoi Yu, Hana and Alice), she must take the necessary steps to disown him.
