8th Annual Japanese Contemporary Dance Showcase

Spend a breathtaking evening on the cutting edge of Japan’s contemporary dance scene! Now an annual event at Japan Society, this year’s lineup features the much-anticipated U.S. debut of Noism05 a newly formed company founded by highly acclaimed choreographer Jo Kanamori, who has toured extensively in Europe; Sennichi-mae Blue Sky Dance Club, an Osaka-based all-female butoh-inspired troupe; dance company BATIK, led by Ikuyo Kuroda, a member of Kim Itoh’s company and recipient of the Toyota Choreography Award; Monochrome Circus, led by choreographer Kousei Sakamoto, who was a guest at the Bates Dance Festival in 2002; and soloist Kaiji Moriyama, one of the most promising performers of this generation.
