Since taking office, President Donald Trump has made significant changes to U.S. trade policy, particularly through tariffs that have had profound implications on diplomatic relations and markets. From the start of his second term, he imposed, paused, or withdrew tariffs on major U.S. trading partners, including Canada, Mexico, and China. More recently, President Trump announced new tariff plans on Liberation Day, signaling a significant shift in the global trade landscape. What do these developments mean for U.S.-Japan trade relations? If these tariffs are fully enacted, how will they impact businesses and industries? Join us for an insightful dialogue with Dr. Michael Beeman, former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Japan, Korea, and APEC, who played a key role in negotiating trade deals during the first Trump administration and later under the Biden administration. In this program, he shares valuable insights on Trump’s trade policy, the current trade landscape, and the future of global trade relations.
