Wednesday, June 21, 6:30 pm ET

In honor of the 25th anniversary of Japan Society’s Annual Sake Lecture series with the Sake Export Association (SEA), join us for an exclusive sake tasting workshop with expert John Gauntner, director of the SEA. At this intimate seated session taste sake from all over Japan, served alongside otsumami (Japanese small bites). Discover the flavor profiles and backgrounds that makes each sake special, as Gauntner shares his insider’s knowledge of the unique region, brewery and brewer that brought each sake to fruition. Participants will sample sake from multiple regions of Japan, accompanied by a light otsumami platter. Must be 21 years of age, or older.

About the Speaker

John Gauntner, often referred to as the “sake dendoushi,” or “sake evangelist” in Japan, is a longtime resident of Japan and a founding member of the Sake Export Association. He is the author of a handful of books about sake, including his most recent book, Sake Confidential, and publishes the email newsletter Sake Industry News.
