Come celebrate Tanabata, the star festival of Japan! A live performance introduces children and adults to the Tanabata legend, which originated in China, presented by two Japanese performers, Mitsuteru Matsuda and Suzue Nitobe. The performance is followed by a hands-on session practicing Tanabata’s exquisite customs, which include decorating bamboo trees with paper ornaments and tanzaku, thin paper strips for writing wishes, led by an origami artist Gay Merrill Gross.
Tickets: Children and students age under 18 admitted free with ticket, accompanying adults $10, Japan Society members, teachers & seniors $7.
