Come learn what young, highly motivated and influential Japan Society Media and Public Policy Fellows have to say about contemporary Japan.  It’s a refreshing look at “Japan’s Gross National Cool.” Also hear how Japan’s new breed of citizen activists are taking the lead on tough social issues like homelessness and domestic violence. Speakers include a freelance journalist who was the Society’s youngest Fellow, a recent recipient of the MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” and a national advocate on domestic violence issues. You may be shocked and dismayed or thrilled by what you hear, but you can be sure you didn’t read about it in your local newspaper.

Panelists
Juley Fulcher, Public Policy Director, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 2001-02 Local Government and Public Policy Fellow
Rosanne Haggerty, Executive Director, Common Ground, 1999-2000 Local Government and Public Policy Fellow
Douglas McGray, freelance writer, 2000-01 United States-Japan Foundation Media Fellow

Followed by a reception.
