In a world of instantaneous global communication, crisis communication management is vital for today’s businesses. In both Japan and the U. S., companies have lost credibility or brand recognition in just hours as a result of poor initial response to scandals, accidents, terrorism or natural disasters. In a crisis, corporations must communicate directly to their stakeholders in an ever-diversifying range of media. How should companies prepare for the unexpected? A panel of crisis-communication experts from Japan and the U. S. discuss their work in a cultural context, and offer their views on the future of the industry.
