Join sculptor Susumu Shingu for an informal conversation to celebrate the opening of Susumu Shingu: Elated! (June 20–August 10, 2025), the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in New York.

Two open house events will be held on June 18. In the morning (11:00–11:45 am) visit 565 Broome in Soho, an iconic building designed by Shingu’s close friend and collaborator, the architect Renzo Piano. There, Shingu will discuss his site-specific kinetic sculptures, which have been installed at locations around the world, focusing on his monumental works in NYC. After the artist’s remarks, visitors will have the opportunity to meet with Shingu while observing his permanent installations in the building: Rainbow Leaves (2021), suspended between the two towers, and Birth of Rainbow (2021), standing in the courtyard.

In the afternoon (1:00-1:45 pm), stop by Mercedes House in Hell’s Kitchen to view Shingu’s marvelous Distant Sky (2012).
