Join us for a weekend of manga, art and fun! With this intensive online course, students will learn the ins and outs of different Japanese manga styles and techniques to help explore and build your own unique manga creations from start to finish. Using characters from popular manga and anime as examples, artist Richard Ford III will guide students through essential techniques, tools and processes to design original manga characters in the style of your choice! Get ready to start a career as a manga artist with this two-day workshop!

$65/$50 Japan Society Members. Recommended for ages 11-17 years old. One student per registration. Space is limited to 15 students: advanced registration required.

About Instructor: Richard Ford III is a professional illustrator based in NYC. Inspired by Japanese anime, manga, and street art, Richard works with various mediums, from digital illustration to traditional paintings, as well as murals. Richard is excited to share his knowledge and techniques with young artists! Richard received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in illustration from Columbia College Chicago.

This course will be conducted online via Zoom. To participate fully, you will need access to a device with internet, microphone, and camera (such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet).
