Japan Society Fellowships

U.S. Japan Media Fellows Program (1996-2008)
Local Government and Public Policy Fellowship (1997-2003)
U.S.-Japan Leadership Program (1984-1996)

From 1984-2008, Japan Society Fellowships provided mid-career American leaders with the opportunity to learn more about Japan through first-hand, individually tailored programs in Japan. For 13 years, Japanese journalists were provided with a similar opportunity in the United States. The Japan Society established the U.S.-Japan Leadership Program to help overcome the serious shortage of American leaders familiar with Japan. In 1996, the Program evolved into the Local Government and Public Policy Fellowship and the U.S.-Japan Media Fellows Program, which also included Japanese journalists.
